SHIFT KIT® Valve Body Repair Kit
Fits 1993-15 4L60E, 4L65E, 4L70E
Except Hybrids

The TransGo 4L60E SHIFT KIT® Valve Body Repair Kit fits 1993 to 2015 General Motors vehicles equipped with 4L60E, 4L65E and 4L70E automatic transmissions. Common complaints are TCC slip or shudder, codes P1870 and P0894, harsh 1-2 shift, double bump shifts, 2-3 flare-up, burnt 3-4 clutch plates as well as inconsistent pressure boost problems.

The torque converter clutch regulator valve bore is very prone to wear causing the TCC slip complaints and related code. The TCC slip code leads to the harsh 1-2 upshift as the ECM recognized the TCC slip and commands high line pressure to avoid further TCC slippage and damage. The 3-4 clutch plate failure as well as the 2-3 flare up complaints are caused by an inconsistent pressure boost and poor overall calibration of the shift accumulation system.

Features and benefits:

The kit includes valve body, servo, pump and accumulator components and modifications designed to deliver increased durability while providing short smooth shifts as well as a more efficient TCC apply. It includes components as well as modifications that recalibrates the entire accumulation system. These changes work in concert with a slight increase in line pressure to greatly improve the overall durability and shift feel of the transmissions. Furthermore, the included drop-in USA-made TCC isolator and regulator valve features longer lands which restores the hydraulic integrity of the circuit by utilizing previously unused and therefore unworn areas of their bore. The kit also provides TCC regulator valve component options that will work with vehicles with or without active fuel management (AFM). Finally, the difference in driving characteristics once the kit is installed is remarkable. This kit is a favorite of professional transmission rebuilders worldwide.

Corrects/Prevents/Reduces:

• TCC slip or shudder
• Code P1870 and P0894
• Harsh 1-2 shift
• Double bump 1-2 or 2-3 shift
• 2-3 flare up
• Burnt 3-4 clutch plates
• 2-4 band failure
• Pump and valve bores wear due to pump slide bounce

Heavy Duty 2-3 Shift Valve

Sonnax has developed a drop-in replacement 2-3 shift valve that applies the overrun clutch in D3, 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears where the factory valve applies the overrun clutch only in D3, 3rd gear.

Applying the overrun clutch in 1st and 2nd provides added durability to the input sprag and forward clutch in heavy duty vehicles, plow trucks and high performance applications.

In addition, this upgrade works well with applications using aftermarket electronic paddle shifters. With the overrun clutch on, the Sonnax valve allows full downshift engine braking in 2nd, while the shifter remains in the D3 position.

• No special tools required
• Extends life of the forward clutch and input sprag
• Ideal for electrically downshifted units with aftermarket paddle shifters

This TransGo 7-CCV valve kit fits 1981 to 1993 General Motors vehicles equipped with the 2004R and 700R4/4L60 automatic transmission.
This product is intended for off road use only.

When used in high performance or transplanted vehicles for off-road or strip use at times there may be a desire to eliminate the lock-up clutch function and fit the transmission with a torque converter with the lock-up clutch omitted. However, unless internal transmission modifications are made at the oil pump and valve body, doing this can result in a loss of coupling complaint-slippage and excessive heat build-up due to the converter not staying fully charged with fluid under heavy load and high RPM.

Features and benefits:

This TransGo converter flow correction kit provides you with an easy-to-install, drop-in solution, that redirects converter flow to the primary pump area and allows the converter to stay fully charged under high load and RPM. This new valve system does not require any pump machining, cross-drilling or any modification to the pump or support. It does not require a TCC enable solenoid; however, you can reinstall it if you wish. This kit is fully compatible with our enter line of products for the 2004R and 700R4/4L60 transmission.

Running a non-lock-up converter while driving in an overdriven ratio increases the transmission operating temperature and cause overheating. For this reason, it is always best to add a cooler. The transmission removal is required for installation.

Corrects/Prevents/Reduces:

• Corrects converter charge and lube flow when using non-lockup converter

Isolator Sleeve Kit

• Sleeve
• Retaining Ring

Severe wear of the TCC regulator valve bore from the OE valve allows regulated converter apply pressure to exhaust. This is a primary cause for a TCC-related 1870 slip code and overheated converters. Exhausting apply pressure also diminishes line pressure, which results in burnt clutches. Excessive wear at the isolator valve bore reduces TCC apply pressure. The Sonnax isolator sleeve kit 77754-ISO in combination with Sonnax TCC regulator valve kit 77754-03K or77754-04K allows you to restore hydraulic integrity of the apply circuit. Sleeve is manufactured from highly wear-resistant aluminum to provide full support for the valve and prevent side loading.

SmartShell Heavy Duty Reaction Shell Kit

Part number: 77749-02K

Contents

In GM 4L60, 4L60-E, 4L65-E and 4L70-E units, bulky aftermarket shells always fall short when splines continue to strip and the shells break under stress. A chronic problem with both OE and thicker aftermarket shells is failure of the rear planetary bearing.

From daily jobs to extreme builds, the Sonnax SmartShell heavy-duty reaction shell kit 77749-02K is the only way to prevent shell failure AND protect the bearing.

The SmartShell avoids the weight found in traditional, heavy-duty aftermarket shells thanks to a unique combination of improved design and manufacturing for a super strength shell that's only slightly bulkier than OE.

To prevent thrust loads from overwhelming the captured planetary bearing, the SmartShell features a larger bearing and custom roller clutch race. These parts re-route thrust loads through the carrier, completely bypassing the delicate bearing.
