Accum. sleevekit 2-3 AOD, AODE, 4R70W

• Piston
• Sleeves (2)
• D-Ring Seals (2)

2-3 accumulator piston and sleeve kit, 76890-21K, restores forward line pressure and salvages damaged cases by repairing damaged 2-3 accumulator bores on AOD, AODE & 4R70W and 4R75W units. Press-in sleeves and a matched piston restore pressures and install easily, without machining or special tools.

• Salvage transmission cases with damaged accumulator bore.
• Kit installs easily, with no special tools required.
• Works in AOD & E and 4R70W and 4R75W units.
• Eliminates concerns about bonded piston seal delamination.

 Fits all '91-Later applications.

Ford vehicles with 4R70E, 4R70W, 4R75E, 4R75W and AODE transmissions may exhibit insufficient line rise in Reverse, delayed or slipping Reverse, and/or a burnt Reverse clutch. Continuous oscillation of the OE boost valve within the boost sleeve causes premature wear, creating a path for boost pressure to exhaust and causing these concerns. Installing Sonnax boost valve kit 76948-02K eliminates pressure loss, restoring proper line rise and robust Reverse action.

Line Press. Booster AODE, 4R70W, 4R75W

• Unique Forward & Reverse Boost Assembly
• Pressure Regulator Spring

Line rise control in the AODE/4R70W is different than in most units. Forward pressure is controlled by EPC oil reacting directly on the spring end of the PR valve. The OE boost assembly only increases pressure in reverse. Traditional use of a larger ratio boost valve to increase line pressure has not been an option for this unit. Sonnax has created a specially designed boost assembly that introduces a supplemental boost valve to augment line rise in forward ranges. Like other Sonnax line pressure booster kits, this special boost valve adds EPC reaction area, providing higher pressure incrementally and when it is needed the most. Combined with a spring that is approximately 10% stronger than OE and more conservative in impact than other aftermarket kit springs, this unique Sonnax booster kit gives you the best of both worlds: a modest pressure increase at the low end, with a high-end pressure that is equal to or greater than that of other aftermarket kit springs.

• Retaining Clip

Forward clutch failure and overdrive band failure can be the result of servo-pin-to-case-bore clearance. This excessive clearance allows leakage of release oil, which is forward clutch oil. This leakage reduces forward oil pressure and can allow overdrive band drag in first, second and third gears. Replace the OE servo pin with Sonnax 76833.
