Oversized Solenoid Switch Valve
Part No. 92835-21

Fits bores containing OE switch valve with .420" dia. large spool only.

Tooling:

F-92835-TL
VB-FIX

Solenoid switch valves and plugs in listed Chrysler transmissions cause bore wear as they oscillate and stroke during operation. This wear allows pressure loss and cross-leakage, and often permits the plugs to cock and hang up in the bore. This can result in failsafe mode, various codes, bind-ups, and burnt 4th or overdrive clutches. In 41 and 42 series units, TCC concerns can result, including engine stalling due to improper lockup. Reconditioning the bore and installing patented Sonnax oversized solenoid switch valve kit 92835-21 restores vital clearances for renewed operation and control.

Annular grooves help center valve in bore to prevent future side-load wear
Hardcoat anodized aluminum valve combats premature wear

Note

To maintain proper hydraulic ratios, it is highly recommended that this valve be installed along with the Sonnax oversized switch valve end plug kit 92835-18K. The bore for the switch valve end plugs must be reamed with F-92835-TL18 prior to reaming the solenoid switch valve bore with F-92835-TL. Optionally, F-92835-TL32 will ream both parts of the bore in one step.

• Patented Sonnax plugs redesigned to prevent cocking

• O-ringed end plug positively seals bore

• Annular grooves help center valve and plugs in bore to prevent future side-load wear

• Hardcoat anodized aluminum valve and plug combat premature wear

Symptoms:

• 4th Clutch burned

• Bind-up

• Codes 841, 868, 871, 988, 1775, 1776

• Engine stall (41 & 42 series)

• Failsafe mode

• No lockup (41 & 42 series)

• OD clutch burned

• TCC apply & release concerns (41 & 42 series)

• TCC codes (41 & 42 series)

Cause:

Excess bore wear at the solenoid switch valve circuit allows critical pressure loss and causes plugs to hang up in the bore.

Correction:

Recover hydraulic control and prevent valve sticking by reconditioning the bore and installing the patented Sonnax oversized solenoid switch valve and plug kit.

WARNING: Measure large spool diameter on OE switch valve as shown here to verify which Sonnax part will fit the unit being repaired. Some Chrysler switch valves measure .420” dia. and others .453” dia. Sonnax offers repairs for both sizes.

Bushing OD-hub A604 late oversize [5]

Package Quantity: 5

Fits late-style hubs with shaft O.D. of 1.162" AND housing bore of .941".

• Inner Dia.: 0.841"

• Width: 1.141"

• Housing Bore: 0.941"

• Shaft Dia.: 0.839"

• Bushing Style: Precision

• Material: Steel-backed bimetal

OE overdrive clutch hub bushings in 41TE, 42LE and 42RLE units often leak critical lube oil due to imprecise clearances with the underdrive shaft. This loss of lube oil regularly leads to planetary damage and shaft breakage.

The two-piece OE bushing design allows excess radial movement of the shaft, hastening failure.

Installing improved, one-piece Sonnax overdrive clutch hub bushing 92004-LOS restores the crucial clearances necessary for optimal performance.

• For late-style hubs with shaft O.D. of 1.162" AND housing bore of .937" Sonnax offers overdrive clutch hub bushing 92004-L

• For early-style hubs with shaft O.D. of 1.142" and housing bore of .959" Sonnax offers overdrive clutch hub bushing 92004-SP

Pressure Regulator Sleeve A604

Non-VLP units only

A worn pressure regulator sleeve in Chrysler 41TE, 42LE and 42RLE transmissions can cause oil leakage. This results in erratic line pressure, leading to lube and converter clutch concerns as well as harsh shifting. Sonnax offers pressure regulator reducing sleeve 92835-07 to eliminate oil loss and cross leakage.

Sleeve is hardcoat anodized to reduce wear
Improved design prevents incorrect positioning and milled slot eliminates circuit cut-off by end plug

NOTE: Does not fit 41TE and 42RLE units with variable line pressure (VLP). VLP units can be identified by the presence of the line pressure solenoid and transducer mounted on the valve body

Symptoms:

Erratic TCC apply pressure
Harsh shifts
High line pressure
Poor lube oil control

Cause:

A worn pressure regulator reducing sleeve allows oil leakage.

Correction:

Replacing the worn OE sleeve with the Sonnax pressure regulator sleeve eliminates oil loss and cross leakage.

Front Servo Piston Cover Kit
Part No. 22827-01

Contents:

• Front Servo Piston Cover

• O-Ring

In vehicles with A727 ('71-later), 46RH/RE and 47RH/RE transmissions it is common to have long slide 2-3 shifts, direct (front) clutch failure or poor line pressure.

These complaints can be caused by the front servo pin wearing the cover pin bore.

In 3rd gear, direct clutch oil is present under the servo cover to release the band. Oil leaks due to a worn cover affect 2-3 shift and direct clutch durability.

Sonnax front servo piston cover 22827-01 features an O-ring between the cover and pin to prevent wear and leakage.

• Added O-ring stops direct (front) clutch oil leaks

• Billet aluminum resists wear
