The AOD often has a long slide shift into second gear, intermediate clutch overheat, and/or direct clutch failure. In many instances the culprit is a worn 1-2 capacity modulator bore. The second clutch oil will leak past the outer balance spool and exhaust, creating insufficient clutch pressure. This can be seen on a gauge or valve body test machine as low 2nd clutch pressure that does not stabilize and fill completely until the road speed allows a shift to 3rd gear. This results in 2nd gear slide and burned intermediate or direct clutches. Sonnax offers an oversized 1-2 capacity modulator valve 76991-01K that restores the hydraulic integrity of the circuit.

Valve is manufactured from hard-coat anodized aluminum to prevent bore wear.
Kit includes an O-ringed end plug that prevents 2nd gear oil from exhausting through the bore.
Three spring weights are included in the 76991-01K kit to allow for more precise shift calibration.

NOTE: If you remove the OE horseshoe clip and install a roll pin with guide hole drilled through the valve body, the plug can be removed and spring weight changed without pulling the valve body

O-Rings (3)

O-ring style

Replacement boost sleeve is manufactured out of a special aluminum designed to prevent wear.
O-rings added to the outside diameter of the sleeve prevent feed oil from escaping past the valve body bore.
Steel valve has been tightly toleranced to allow minimum clearance with the inside diameter of the sleeve.
Sleeve and valve restore the hydraulic integrity of the assembly.

NOTE: O-ring seals are added insurance against boost oil loss. Sleeve can be installed without these seals, but their use is recommended

Symptoms:

Delayed Reverse
Direct clutch failure
Low line rise
Soft slide shifts

Cause:

Severe wear of the pressure regulator boost sleeve allows boost oil leakage.

Correction:

This pressure regulator boost valve and O-ringed sleeve kit is made from high quality aluminum to reduce wear. Added O-rings prevent oil from escaping past the valve body bore.

TV Control Valve & Valve Plunger Kit

76970-02K

Tooling: 76970-TL

Contents

1 TV Control Valve
1 Throttle Valve Plunger
1 Throttle Valve Spring

The hardened steel TV control valve and the throttle valve plunger continuously reciprocate within the aluminum valve body, wearing the valve body bore. This wear allows throttle valve feed oil to leak past the plunger and exhaust, and line feed oil to leak past the TV control valve and exhaust, resulting in poor line rise. Valves can stick on ridges worn into the valve body, resulting in uncontrollable throttle pressure. Sonnax now offers an oversized TV control valve and throttle valve plunger kit 76970-02K that restores the hydraulic integrity of the circuit.

• End Plug Use in TF-81SC Only

The Aisin AW TF-80/81SC solenoid modulator valve establishes and controls feed pressure to a variety of solenoids.

High or low solenoid feed pressure will adversely affect shift functions controlled by those solenoids. Wear at the inboard end of the solenoid modulator valve circuit causes excessive feed pressure. This floods the solenoids and reduces reaction time, resulting in harsh shifting and high line pressure.

Wear at the outboard and mid-section reduces solenoid modulator pressure. This loss has the most effect on engagements and boost oil for line pressure rise. The Sonnax oversized solenoid modulator valve kit 39741-18K corrects wear in all areas, restoring pressure control and OE pressure calibration.

This kit can be used in either of two valve body locations. The hardcoat anodized valve with annular groves and lengthened front spool combined with a wear resistant sleeve offer precision control and extended service life.

• Aluminum valve is hardcoat anodized to reduce wear and has added annular grooves for better centering in the bore.

• The highly wear-resistant sleeve and lengthened front valve spool provide 75% more sealing contact area

Boostvalve 4T65E

Valve
Sleeve

Vehicles with a 4T65-E transmission often exhibit such problems as soft upshifts (especially 1-2), delayed reverse and low line rise. This can be traced to wear of the OE boost sleeve assembly. The OE boost sleeve assembly consists of two steel valves and a steel plug that reside in the boost sleeve. The steel valves wear the aluminum sleeve and allow leakage of boost pressure. The OE boost assembly is not serviceable separately from OE, which forces the purchase of a new and expensive valve body. Sonnax offers an upgraded boost sleeve assembly 84754-30K to replace the worn OE parts and allow the OE valve body to be used and restore the hydraulic integrity of the circuit.

Symptoms:

Harsh Reverse
Low line rise in Forward
Low line rise in Reverse
Soft upshifts

Cause:

Bore wear near the small valve causes harsh or delayed reverse depending on the location and severity of the leak, and the temperature wear near the end plug causes soft shift quality and lowline rise.

Correction:

The replacement boost sleeve delivers oil 360° around the valve, reducing side load. Also the surface contact of the spools is greater, which improves durability and reduces oil loss.

Fits VLP units only

Sonnax oversized pressure regulator valve 92835-29 addresses high/low line pressure, harsh shifts, erratic TCC apply pressures and poor lube control in 41TE(S), 42RLE units. Wear is commonly found at different areas in the pressure regulator bore. Wear at the inner bore causes high line pressure, harsh shifting and erratic converter apply pressure.

Wear at the spring end of the bore allows line pressure to exhaust, resulting in low line pressure, soft shifts and burnt clutches. Wear at this area also will affect converter flow and the lube circuit. The Sonnax valve restores valve-to-bore clearances, allowing the pressure regulator valve to maintain correct pressures in all ranges.

• Sonnax aluminum valve is hard-coat anodized for wear resistance

• Oversized valve has annular grooves to support valve and reduce wear

NOTE: This Sonnax valve fits 41TE(S), 42RLE units with variable line pressure (VLP) solenoid only. VLP units can be identified by the presence of the line pressure solenoid and transducer mounted on the valve body. Non-VLP units can be serviced with Sonnax 92835-24.

Symptoms:

• Erratic TCC apply

• High line pressure

• Low line pressure

• Poor lube oil control

• Shift concerns

Cause:

Worn pressure regulator bore

Correction:

This valve restores the pressure regulator circuit with an oversized pressure regulator valve that returns pressure regulation to like-new function.
